9 Innings: Pro Baseball 2009 or Baseball Superstars
Price: $4.99 Price: $4.99 (Currently on sale for $2.99)
Baseball fans rejoice because the gaming Gods gave you not one but two great baseball games. Both games are a lot of fun and miles ahead of the previously available baseball games, but they are significantly different so make sure you know what you want in a game before deciding. 9 Innings gives you more control of everything. Not only do you control your fielders but you can also place your pitches both of which makes the pace of the game a little slower plus the pitch control is a little difficult to get used to. Baseball Superstars has automatic fielders and only allows you to select which pitch you want. 9 Innings offers a season mode of 126 games but if you have a job or any responsibilies at all and can’t complete all 126 games you can allow the computer to play the game for you. Baseball Superstars allows you to purchase new players and equipment with points you earn during games. So to each his/her own but either way you can’t go wrong.
Diner Dash
Price $4.99
Who could have guessed that being the only waiter in a grease-hole of a restaurant could be so fun? This game has been a favorite among gamers for years in its PC and Nintendo DS versions. Since making the move to the Ipod in September 2008 it has gained even more fans. The objective of the game is to seat and serve customers as quickly as possible in order to score a big tip. The more money you earn the more you can fix-up the restaurant and open others. A little warning: don’t play before any important appointments because this game has a serious addiction factor.
Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition
Price: $4.99
What could make Monopoly better? How about a faster pace, playing with millions instead of thousands, and owning London instead of Baltic Avenue? You got it with this revamped version of the classic. Not only is the World Edition a better fit for today’s fast pace society but it goes beyond a board game and becomes a virtual world. Your game piece doesn’t just move the appropriate number of spaces it runs, waddles and bounds. The graphics are great and the sounds are realistic. The best part is no math skills are required for this version.
Unlock iPhone

Telus started the week by becoming the first major Canadian carrier with a flexible unlocking policy. As of February 15, customers will have the option of paying to unlock any GSM-based phones. The approach will carry a $50 fee but will only require that customers have had the phone on the network for at least 90 days.
Unlocks won’t include the iPhone at first, but Apple’s phone should have the option soon.
The deal doesn’t get users out of their contracts but is a potentially major help for travelers. It will let customers avoid paying extremely high roaming rates for voice or data and instead gives the option of using a prepaid SIM through a local carrier.
Telus’ deal isn’t first but is noticeably much more favorable than that for Rogers’ unlocking strategy. While Rogers already unlocks the iPhone and other devices, it currently forces customers to run the length of their entire contract before they can get the unlock, in many cases rendering the unlock impractical.
Rogers has been concerned that customers could use the unlocked phones to jump to a competing carrier, but the argument has been criticized for its questionable logic. Since customers are still bound to the monthly contract, they would pay for the device subsidy and the possible early termination fee regardless of the phone’s locked state.
Bell hasn’t said if it will follow suit.
A trailer for the upcoming animated family comedy “Rio” premiered during last night’s Super Bowl XLV. In an advertising first, the trailer features an embedded code for top-selling mobile game “Angry Birds” which unlocks a hidden level and allows players to enter a contest to win a trip to Rio de Janeiro for the film’s May 22 premiere.
The code pops up at around the 26 second mark in the trailer. There’s a sign visible in the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment featuring a monkey falling on its back. If you look closely at the sign after the monkey drops you can see a red Angry Bird looking in surprise at a Golden Egg — finding them unlocks bonus levels in the game — with the numbers 13-12 printed below it.
Mashable writer Christina Warren worked out the hint’s meaning. Players need to load up level 13-12, found in the game’s fifth chapter, “Ham ‘Em High.” You then take a white bird and shoot it away from the pig-crushing action. Dropping the white bird’s egg as it flies apparently reveals the golden Rio egg, which is of course shaped like a football. Note that I haven’t been able to test this one out for myself thanks to a lost “Angry Birds” save.
“Rio” opens in the United States on April 15, a week after the Brazil opening. “Angry Birds” developer Rovio Mobile previously revealed that they’re working on a special edition of the game themed after the film. A recently released trailer for the tie-in points to a March release. No matter what your stance is on product placement and how it is being used, I don’t think anyone is really going to argue against having the opportunity to fling more hard-headed birds into a new set ice, stone, wood and steel structures.
